Staff Spotlight: Consultant Celebrates Career Milestone

APRIL 2018

Join us as we recognize Jan Southern for 37 years of dedicated service to JMFA and our clients. Jan joined the company in 1981, as an engagement consultant. Since then, she has excelled in multiple capacities – including relationship manager and senior consultant – working along-side the sales staff to provide banks and credit unions with advice and assistance on how to increase revenue and gain efficiencies in their processes.


Time and time again, Jan has helped banks and credit unions of all sizes maximize their performance and service levels, in spite of the challenges facing the financial services industry – from economic downturns to ever-changing regulations and technology. She is currently utilizing her expertise as a relationship manager for JMFA Overdraft Privilege program clients.

“In today’s world, where many industry careers are built through service with multiple employers, JMFA has been fortunate to have a core base of professional associates who have helped in the development and implementation of products and services to benefit our clients,” said John M. Floyd, JMFA Chairman and CEO. “Jan is one of those initial hires who has been instrumental in creating and extending our client-driven values. We are grateful for her years of dedicated service and appreciate the contributions she continues to make that support successful client relationships.”

As the industry has evolved, Jan has enjoyed helping JMFA’s clients implement programs to improve their overall performance and provide excellent services to their account holders. “My work with clients has been very rewarding in that I have had the chance to meet fabulous people, many of whom have become life-long friends,” said Jan. “Working with JMFA for over 35 years is one of my most memorable professional milestones and I look forward to contributing to the company’s excellent work for years to come.”

Outside of the office, Jan keeps busy with involvement in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. She also volunteered for Super Bowl LI in 2017, meeting football fans from across the country and helping them to enjoy their stay in Houston.
