JMFA’s executive team members offer valuable knowledge and unique insight on the issues affecting today’s community banks and credit unions.
As chief executive officer, John provides leadership, planning and oversight for the company. He joined JMFA in 2002. As executive vice president of operations and chief information officer, John was the principal advisor to the executive team and directly managed the company’s consulting operations group. He has been responsible for client relationships related to the performance improvement aspect of consulting projects, all IT functions and software development for JMFA programs, including the recently enhanced Privilege Manager CRM® for the JMFA OVERDRAFT PRIVILEGE® program.
John’s experience includes 30-plus years in government and the financial services industry, with expertise in software and systems engineering, automation operations support and cost analysis optimization.
Prior to joining JMFA, he served as vice president of research and development for Crosstalk Inc., a technology firm providing automation, visual information, records management, printing, publishing, and library services to clients such as SAT Corporation, Altra Energy and Landata Systems. He also served as the senior systems engineer for AIM Management Mutual Funds, where he developed and maintained the Technical Architecture Standards (TAS), and reviewed and certified major AIM automated information systems for compliance with those standards.
Richard joined JMFA after a 23-year career in banking, providing JMFA and our clients a broad base of management experience in community banking, from chief lending officer to president of small and medium-sized financial institutions. Richard supervises JMFA’s sales activities across the nation, establishing valued relationships and helping JMFA and the financial institutions we serve achieve their goals.
He began his banking career in 1972 with American Bank of Tulsa, advancing to chief lending officer by 1980. During that time, the bank engaged JMFA, resulting in substantial earnings gains that made American Bank of Tulsa the highest earning bank in the region, posting ROAs near 3% and ROEs close to 25%. In 1982, Richard and his management team left American and chartered Southern National Bank in Tulsa, which was sold in 1992 to Boatman’s Bancshares of St. Louis, Missouri. After a restructuring consulting assignment with a New Orleans financial institution, Richard joined JMFA as sales director for the Southeastern region and began rising through the ranks.
Richard is a graduate from the University of Tulsa and the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
Cheryl joined JMFA in 2001, rising quickly from consultant to engagement manager to executive vice president of implementation. Today she serves as compliance liaison for overdraft privilege and other profitability programs, ensuring the fulfillment of all regulatory requirements. Her responsibilities also include high-level sales support and administration for financial institutions. Cheryl is also a sought-after authority for compliance issues related to overdraft programs. She continues to be invited to speak at numerous industry events.
Her impressive background includes more than 30 years of experience in global information technology and financial operations, as well as consulting, communications, training and project management. Prior to joining JMFA, she was a managing consultant for DA Consulting Group, Inc. in Chicago and Houston, where she was credited with saving the firm some $10 million through high-efficiency technology strategies. Previous positions include IBM systems engineer, international MIS trainer for Chase Manhattan, director of communications for Bankers Trust Company of New York, and CEO of a start-up providing nonprofit organizations with automation solutions.
Cheryl earned her bachelor’s in English from Carnegie-Mellon University, followed by an MBA from Rice University
Mark currently assists with leading all sales efforts for the company, as well as training initiatives to support JMFA’s strategies that lead to long-term stability for its clients. With more than 34 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry, he has held multiple positions in the company from consulting to sales and business development.
Prior to joining JMFA, Mark was a sales manager in the Texas market for a major bank with headquarters on the West coast. His experience also includes managing the accounting, budgeting, cash management, operations and credit administration functions for community banks in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Mark received his degree in finance from Abilene Christian University and is also a graduate of The School for Bank Administration at The University of Wisconsin.
Jennifer joined JMFA in 2001 as an engagement consultant, becoming an engagement manager along the way before settling into her current role. She and her team ensure that the program recommendations made to clients are implemented on time while adhering to compliance standards. Her attention to details—and ability to keep up with them—ensures accuracy, consistency, and efficiency on every project. Whether it’s training staff in using software, managing documentation and training materials, assisting with modification and testing of core processor settings, or improving processes, Jennifer has a positive impact on a client’s bottom line.
Prior to joining the JMFA team, Jennifer spent seven years honing her skills as a project manager for a firm that provided consulting in global information technology, financial operations, business process re-engineering, and training.
Ron is responsible for managing JMFA’s business strategies, including alliances and partner relationship development in support of national sales efforts. His extensive industry knowledge and experience in performance enhancement and product development provide clients with proven strategies for optimizing their earnings potential, enhancing their overall operations and providing superior account holder service. Ron is recognized as an expert in business process optimization and change management solutions, sales and service delivery systems, as well as technology utilization and alternatives.
He has served in key leadership positions at JMFA – most recently as executive sales director, where he managed all sales and consulting services in the Midwest, Rocky Mountain and Southwest Regions of the U.S. Prior to joining JMFA, he was a trust/operations officer and an auditor of a multi-billion dollar Texas bank; held executive leadership and board positions for several Texas banks; served as chairman of the board for a Texas-based consulting firm; and was director of financial institutions consulting for a Big 10 accounting and management consulting firm. Ron has a degree in business management and has acquired several banking certificates.
After joining JMFA in 2014 as an Engagement Consultant, Jai quickly began taking on more responsibilities and leadership duties, eventually landing in his current role. As Director of Field Operations, Jai leads and supports the JMFA team of Field Consultants, Client Managers, Relationship Managers and Senior Relationship Managers, optimizing delivery and ensuring the performance of JMFA’s growing client portfolio. He has also been a trainer with the JMFA Academy since its inception.
Jai has a long history of providing outstanding management, building meaningful relationships and ensuring profitability to Fortune 500 retail companies, as well as with JPMorgan Chase, where he twice received the prestigious JP Morgan National Top Manager Award. He brings this deep expertise to his role at JMFA and has a profound commitment to delivering on the JMFA promise.
Jai holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems, a Master of Business Administration, and several certifications, and has also authored several books.
Kathy oversees the day-to-day administrative functions at JMFA. Her responsibilities also include overseeing all Human Resource functions and coordinating communications throughout the organization. Kathy has more than 35 years of administrative experience and expertise working in a variety of industries, including financial services, the legal industry, and property management and homeowner associations.
She joined JMFA in 2003 from RadioShack Corporation, where she served as executive administrator to the president and chief operating officer. Previous experience includes more than 14 years in the jewelry retail industry, where she served as the senior executive assistant to the chairman and CEO of Zale Corporation. During her tenure with Zale, Kathy also served as assistant to the vice president of marketing and advertising, managing numerous projects.
