John M. Floyd

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
 

John M. Floyd and his namesake, JMFA, are recognized throughout the financial industry for helping financial institutions improve their performance, profitability and account holder relationships. Over the past 35 years, John has expanded his consulting services to include a full range of income enhancement and expense reduction programs. He is also noted for being a visionary for overdraft privilege programs--consulting on high-performance, fully compliant, consumer friendly programs. He and his team have partnered with more than 2,200 banks and credit unions across the United States, increasing clients’ revenue streams by billions of dollars.

John’s success as an industry consultant is rooted in his ability to help clients overcome market challenges and grow their business, including today’s regulatory and economic challenges. A strong and vocal advocate for consumers, he champions socially responsible overdraft programs that are fully disclosed and fully communicated. He also consults on operational, financial and delivery system issues within the financial services industry, and advises clients on competitive pricing, new product marketing, and profitability performance by product and product line. Previously John served as a profit planning manager for Texas Commerce Bank in Houston. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Sam Houston State University.


 

Cher M. Floyd

Chief Operating Officer

Cher joined JMFA in 1993 and today serves as chief operating officer, setting strategic goals and overseeing the operations and infrastructure to ensure JMFA achieves those goals. An energetic, inspirational leader, Cher has been instrumental in JMFA’s continued success in delivering the products, services and support to meet the needs of the financial institutions we serve, and their account holders. She is involved in all aspects of strategic planning, ensuring the firm is continually guided by and communicating JMFA’s core mission, vision and values. Her focus on continuous improvement ensures the continued growth of the organization, while maximizing JMFA’s efficiency and effectiveness in serving our clients.

Cher’s leadership at JMFA follows 20 years of business operations experience at Zales Jewelers, a major international jewelry corporation, where she rapidly climbed the ranks, ultimately supervising the training operations for 650 stores nationwide. During her tenure there, she supported the organization through a major acquisition, contributing to their marketing and advertising efforts. Cher attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree.

Tony Blevins

Chief Financial Officer

Tony, a director of JMFA since 1979, joined the firm as vice chairman and chief financial officer in 2003. His broad, international background in management and finance, his leadership skills, and his analytical acumen were a valuable and timely asset, enabling JMFA to capitalize on explosive growth opportunities. Tony is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of JMFA to maximize the firm’s financial performance and strength, enabling JMFA to achieve its strategic goals.

Prior to joining JMFA, Tony served as managing director and CEO of Caltex Australia, where he led the only petroleum refining and marketing firm listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and was responsible to more than 30,000 Australian shareholders. From 1995 to 2000, he served as CEO of Texaco Brazil, where he was responsible for Texaco Inc.'s petroleum businesses in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay. Previous positions include serving as CFO of Texaco Ltd. in London, England, and a variety of other accounting positions during his 34-year career at Texaco Inc. The Joaquin, TX native graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Economics.


 

Kathy Morales

Chief Administrator

Kathy oversees the day-to-day administrative functions at JMFA to ensure all aspects of the business run smoothly, maximizing the company’s performance and results. Her responsibilities include managing the daily operations, supporting the CEO, CFO and COO, overseeing all Human Resource functions, and coordinating communications throughout the organization. Kathy has more than 35 years of administrative experience and expertise working in a variety of industries, including financial services, the legal industry, and property management and homeowner associations.

She joined JMFA in 2003 from RadioShack Corporation, where she served as executive administrator to the president and chief operating officer. Previous experience includes more than 14 years in the jewelry retail industry, where she served as the senior executive assistant to the chairman and CEO of Zale Corporation. During her tenure with Zale, Kathy also served as assistant to the vice president of marketing and advertising, managing numerous projects.

John Cohron

Executive Vice President of Operations and Chief Information Officer

As chief information officer, John serves as the principal advisor to the JMFA executive team. He also oversees JMFA’s operations group. John is responsible for all client relationships related to the performance improvement of our consulting projects. In addition, he is in charge of all IT functions and initiatives at JMFA, including software development for all JMFA programs and Privilege Manager Systems for the JMFA Overdraft Privilege® program.

John’s 20-plus years of government and financial industry experience include expertise in software and systems engineering, automation operations support, and cost analysis optimization. Most recently he served as vice president of research and development for Crosstalk Inc., a technology firm providing automation, visual information, records management, printing, publishing, and library services to clients such as SAT Corporation, Altra Energy and Landata Systems. Previously he served as the senior systems engineer for AIM Management Mutual Funds, where he developed and maintained the Technical Architecture Standards (TAS), and reviewed and certified major AIM automated information systems for compliance with those standards.

Mark Miller

Director of Sales

Mark joined JMFA as director of sales, supporting the company’s growth through one of the most challenging regulatory and economic climates in the history of the financial services industry. He is responsible for development of the company’s sales strategies, as well as all sales training initiatives. Mark brings with him more than 30 years of management, business development, and sales and marketing experience, including a longstanding history with JMFA, serving as a consultant and playing an instrumental role in developing the company’s sales program.

Mark is an award-winning sales manager and trainer, helping businesses across a multitude of industries improve their business practices and dramatically increase their annual revenues. Mark also served as a sales/marketing executive for a Fortune 100 electronics company and as chief operating officer for a $30 million manufacturing business. He has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science degree in biochemistry from West Virginia University.

Richard Miller

Executive Vice President

Richard joined JMFA after a 23-year career in banking, providing JMFA and our clients a broad base of management experience in community banking, from chief lending officer to president of small and medium-sized financial institutions. Richard supervises JMFA’s sales activities across the nation, establishing valued relationships and helping JMFA and the financial institutions we serve achieve their goals.

He began his banking career in 1972 with American Bank of Tulsa, advancing to chief lending officer by 1980. During that time, the bank engaged JMFA, resulting in substantial earnings gains that made American Bank of Tulsa the highest earning bank in the region, posting ROA’s near 3% and ROE’s close to 25%. In 1982, Richard and his management team left American and chartered Southern National Bank in Tulsa, which was sold in 1992 to Boatman’s Bancshares of St. Louis, Missouri. After a restructuring consulting assignment with a New Orleans financial institution, Richard joined JMFA as sales director for the Southeastern region and began rising through the ranks. He graduated from the University of Tulsa and the Southeastern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Ron Jennings

Executive Vice President

As executive vice president, Ron is responsible for managing JMFA’s business strategies and planning offerings and performance enhancement products and services to help clients improve their bottom line in today’s challenging environment. This includes research and analyses of financial institutions and their markets, recommendations for profit improvement alternatives, restructuring and/or rationalization of products and services, business process optimization and change management solutions, sales and service delivery systems, and technology utilization and alternatives. He has extensive experience and success in helping financial institutions develop and apply strategies that produce high earnings and enhanced operations.

Ron has also served as president, chief operating officer, and most recently executive sales director at JMFA, where he managed all sales and consulting services in the Midwest, Rocky Mountain and Southwest Regions of the U.S. Previously he served as a Trust/Operations Officer and an auditor of a multi-billion dollar Texas bank, held executive leadership and board positions for several Texas banks, served as Chairman of the Board for a Texas-based consulting firm, and as director of financial institutions consulting for a Big 10 accounting and management consulting firm. Ron has a degree in business management and has acquired several banking certificates.

Charles Shanley, SPHR, CFS

Executive Vice President
 

Charles has specialized in executive recruiting and project management for more than 20 years, developing the skills and insight to quickly locate top talent to improve the client’s bottom line. He excels in all facets of executive searches and has extensive experience in retained searches at the president/CEO level. His expertise also includes executive assessment/coaching, training and management of new recruiters in the industry, and client management and development. Charles is frequently asked to present on HR topics such as succession planning, retention strategies, and attracting top talent.

Prior to joining JMFA, Charles served as a recruiting executive in large recruiting firms, specializing in retained, contingency, and contract/project placement searches for financial institutions. He also has extensive experience placing top executives in finance, accounting and engineering positions. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Angelo State University. Charles is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and has received his SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) and CFS (Certified Financial Supplier) certifications.

Cheryl Lawson

Executive Vice President of Compliance Review

Cheryl joined JMFA in 2001, rising quickly from consultant to engagement manager to executive vice president of implementation. Today she serves as compliance liaison for overdraft privilege and other profitability programs, ensuring the fulfillment of all regulatory requirements. Her responsibilities also include high-level sales support and administration for financial institutions. Cheryl is also a sought-after authority for compliance issues related to overdraft programs. She continues to be invited to speak at numerous industry events.

Cheryl’s impressive background includes more than 30 years of experience in global information technology and financial operations, as well as consulting, communications, training and project management. Prior to joining JMFA, she was a managing consultant for DA Consulting Group, Inc. in Chicago and Houston, where she was credited with saving the firm some $10 million through high-efficiency technology strategies. Previous positions include IBM systems engineer, international MIS trainer for Chase Manhattan, director of communications for Bankers Trust Company of New York, and CEO of a start-up providing nonprofit organizations with automation solutions. The Houston native earned her bachelor’s in English from Carnegie-Mellon University, followed by an MBA from Rice University.
